With Christmas just a few days away I decided I needed to come up with some Paleo sweets recipes so I won’t be tempted to eat forbidden foods LOL. The result was this Paleo Sesame Fruit Candy recipe. These were so easy, no bake (which is always good) and they are soooo yummy! I also made some Paleo chocolate candies too and I will put that recipe on here later tonight.
Now it is important to remember that just because they are Paleo does not mean low carb LOL They are great for a little treat now and again but they do have 5g of carbs per piece so do be careful!
I am keeping a small supply of these and the chocolates in my freezer so I can grab just one whenever I have an intense sweet craving or if I need to bump up my carbs for the day. These would make great energy boosters for after workouts.
Paleo Sesame Fruit Candy Recipe
3/4 c dried fruit (I used apricots and dried cantaloupe)
1/2 cup shredded coconut, unsweetened
1/2 sesame seeds
1/2 c nuts of your choice (I used walnuts)
1/2 c ground flaxseeds
2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp water
Now this is the hardest part..toss it all in a food processor and buzz. Yep, it really is that easy! It should be slightly moist but should form into balls without being too sticky. If it is too sticky add more nuts or coconut.
Now form it into balls and let them sit uncovered for a short time so the outside dries a bit. You should get about 2o pieces of candy from this recipe. I had to put mine right into the freezer because oh….I was tempted LOL If you try this Paleo Sesame Fruit Candy recipe leave me a comment, did you do any interesting combinations of nuts and fruits?
Variation: add a teaspoon or so of chopped fresh ginger for a little zip and a bit of an Asian flavor. They kind of remind me of a ginger candy I bought in my local Asian store a long time ago.
Amount Per Serving: 1 serving (16g)
